Kindle Confessions

I need you all to chime in here for a second. I am looking for new reading material, and I need your recommendations. I am about to finally start reading The Life of Pi, which has actually been recommended to me by several different people. I'm one of those people who like to have several books stacked up ready to go, so I need your recs. I don't want to be left hanging with nothing to read when I am done. The horror.

I have to confess that I have 100% embraced e-readers. I know, I know! Travesty! I fought long and hard, but when my husband got an e-reader last year for his birthday, I was the one who read an entire book on it before he ever had a chance to see how the thing worked. A part of me still hates the idea of e-readers replacing real books, but a bigger, louder, more dominant part of me has fallen in love with e-readers, head over heels.

Seconds after finishing the first book in the Hunger Games Series I was on amazon.com downloading the next book. As awesome as paper books are, you can't do that, baby. I am also one of those people who likes to have a book in her purse at all times. Sometimes two or three. The choice of which book to throw in my bag can sometimes feel like The Most Important Decision Of The Day.

When Rory Gilmore stuck a book in her bag to take to her school dance, I just about died. I knew that move so well. It wasn't even as if I expected or wanted to read at a dance, but it was such a force of habit, I couldn't stop it if I tried.

The thing about the e-reader is that I never have to choose which book to take with me. I can take them ALL! Yes, please do imagine me saying that in a deranged mad scientist voice. That is kind of how it feels to have all my books in my bag at all times. I am usually reading several at a time and what I read when is largely based on my mood or how much time I have to read. I'm not going to want to read Erasing Hell in the few minutes before a meeting, but Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? is a perfect five minute read.

My kindle is also proof positive of what a weirdo I am. I currently have uploaded to it: the complete Sherlock Holmes series, Anne of Green Gables, all of Jane Austen's books, Jane Eyre, 7, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Crazy Love, a Wayne Grudem book about politics and religion that makes my head spin, The Hunger Games series and a couple others I can't recall...it seems like I share my kindle with a twelve year old girl and her dad. Or grandpa.

Anyway, all that to say, I have read most of these books and am looking to upload more. I like Young Adult lit, political and religious stuff, classics, and funny celebrity bios. So basically, every single person who has ever read my blog should be able to recommend something to me. What are you reading?? And don't give me that line about not having enough time to read, blah, blah. You may not have time, but if you are like me, you still have an idea of what you want to read if you did have all the time in the world. Spill it!

PS If you have never commented before, now would be a great time! I have set it up so that it should be easier to comment. Yes, you will have to fill out your name and email at the very least, but that is so that you can be proven not to be spam. You would be shocked at how many Viagra related comments I get without that feature. Also, the comments are moderated, so you won't see it appear right away. You'd be surprised how many Viagra related comments get through, even with the form to fill out.

1,2,3.....GO!
