Overcoming the Lies with The Story Project

Lies.

They are everywhere. Out in the open, tucked away in the corners, sometimes embedded deep into our hearts.

You know what they are, those awful lies that tell us we aren't smart enough, good enough, pretty enough, spiritual enough.

Sometimes the lies whisper in our ears softly; other times the lies shout so loud the noise becomes a deafening buzz.

You aren't enough. God isn't enough.

The sad thing is, deep down we know it is a lie, and yet, we still struggle to not believe them.

Last week, Ashley Beaudin from The Story Project contacted me about being a part of her upcoming campaign Overcoming the Lie. It is Ashley's desire to encourage women to overcome the lies that they believe about themselves and celebrate the courageous women who have overcome the lies they used to believe.

I love that she contacted me when she did, because for the last few months I have been struggling to overcome some icky lies myself. The more I try to overcome what I believe about myself, the more difficult it becomes.

Grasping onto the truth about who God is, what He has done for us, and what He can do through us is what Overcoming the Lie is all about. The lies can cripple us, keeping us from truly growing into the women God wants us to be.

Next week, from January 28 until February 3, a lovely group of women will be sharing their stories and struggles about overcoming the lies they have been told.

Their stories will inspire, break our hearts and make us laugh.

It is going to be a great week.

If you want to submit a story to The Story Project, help promote the campaign or just tune in next week, be sure to follow their blog and contact Ashley.

In the now immortal words of Abilene, "You is kind, you is smart, you is important." Join us, won't you?
